Who are we and how we got started.
Cary Ruckel (left), Ed Watson, center, and Clay Watson have worked together to establish Watson Irrigation in southwestern Montana.
Watson Irrigation started in a small office in August of 1995 and has enjoyed four years of rapid growth
since then. The company has moved from the small office inside the home of Ed Watson to a spacious office and shop
on the outskirts of Townsend. The three partners, with diversified backgrounds, offer more than 45 years of experience in the irrigation
industry.
Ed Watson moved to Townsend from Nebraska in 1974, where he was involved in the irrigation business.
He continued that career in Montana and has many years of experience in trouble shooting systems as well
as designing systems.
Clay Watson, after completing an Associate of Science degree at Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., has
worked to build a comprehensive irrigation company that he felt was needed in this region. Clay works on
the sales and fabrication of irrigation systems.
After Van Dyke Irrigation in Bozeman shut its doors in August of 1995, where Ed and Clay were employed,
the partners decided that there was a need for a full-service irrigation company based in Broadwater
County.
Cary Ruckel, a contractor for 30 years in Texas, moved to Montana to join the
Watson's and help establish the irrigation company. Working with the computer design of irrigation systems and the PVC end of the
business, his background complements the experience and background of the other two partners.
Watson Irrigation sells and installs 20-25 pivots a year, along with other irrigation jobs.
Around the region, they are known for their friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The team is looking forward to a great new millennium in the irrigation business and invites interested persons to stop by and have a cup of
coffee while discussing their irrigation needs.
